| Kentucky Table Quiz, 23rd April |
Cathal and the rest of the Kentucky gang raised $740 at their charity table quiz on Wednesday 23rd April. This is quite impressive as the event was for a charity about 4000 miles away! I am told it was a great night that was enjoyed by all who were present. Prizes were given for highest points, lowest points and even funniest anwer! Two of the tables who won a cash prize were generous enough to donate their winnings to the Tracie Lawlor Trust. We have yet to overcome our surprise at how many kind hearted people there are who are willing to give their hard earned money to this cause. Well done to those involved in organising this successful event and good luck with the training for Sunday! |
| Fundraising Table Quiz Thursday, 17th April |
Cathal Beale is organising a table quiz in Lexington Kentucky in aid of Cystic Fibrosis. It will take place on Wed 23rd April and is in conjunction with the cycle he has organised for the following Sunday 27th. He hopes to raise much needed funds for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers in his home town. Everyone in Wexford wishes Cathal the best of luck with this event. |
| Charity Event Thursday, 10th April |
A charity walk takes place in Enniscorthy on May 4th to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. More details to follow... |
| Fundraising Monday, 7th April |
The money raised has been counted and the amount came to €36,000. This is only the first count with more money to be collected. It is expected that we will reach €40,000 on the final count. This is an unbelievable acheivement for one day though we all know a lot of time and effort was put into this event! I know that everyone involved will be over the moon with this total. Another congratulations to all those who put their blood, sweat and tears into making the 5th April 2008 a day that none of us will forget. |
| Congratulations! Sunday, 6th April |
I know that I speak for all of us non-cyclists who were involved in this event when I say how proud I am of those who cycled from Dublin to Wexford yesterday. It is an understatement to say that the day was a great success. The motivation of the cyclists and the reception they received on arrival to Castlebridge was nothing short of moving. The total figure of sponsorship has not yet been tallied however the awareness that was raised in one day is priceless. John Morrissey and Ruairi Culleton did a fantastic job in organising the event to make sure that everyone was looked after and that all the cyclists had to do was concentrate on getting to their destination. There were many more people involved, too many to mention, who selflessly gave up their time to help in any way they could. Everyone was amazed to witness that some of those less experienced cyclists finished the journey in just over five hours. Emotions were high as friends of Tracie were met by her parents Phil and Ian who graciously offered each cyclist a medal for their effort and as a memento of the event. Most of those involved wore t-shirts that bore Tracie's name or picture to symbolise what the day was all about. It was a privilege to be part of such an amazing occasion. We will post the total amount raised along with photos of the day very soon. Congratulations again to all participants. What an achievement!!! |
| T-shirts for cycle Friday, 4th April |
The t-shirts that people ordered have been made. Thank you to Wexford Area Partnership for there hard work. Anyone who has given me (Sara) an order for a tshirt can meet me on Sat morning with €4. Unfortunately Tracie's name has been spelled wrong on the back but I think we can overlook this as they will still have the same effect. |
| Charity Event Thurday, 3rd April |
Philip Walsh, a close friend of Tracie Lawlor is attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro on the 6th of July to raise sponsorship and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. We all wish him the very very best of luck! Please visit www.pipwalsh.com for more information. |
| Cycles go global! Wednesday, Mar 26th |
It has come to my attention that a cycle in China is in the works to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. The date has not yet been set however it is hoped to take place sometime in May. More information on the date and route to follow. We just need Africa and Australia now to be completely worldwide!!! |
| Irish Cycle Training Sunday, Mar 23rd |
A new web page has been added with a training programme and a safety statement. With just less than two weeks to the cycle now, all of the participants are getting eager to be on top form for the day. The training programme can be used as a guide on where your training or fitness level should be at this time. The safety statement is to assure you all that you're in safe hands! There is also a list of Wexford accommodation on the "Irish cycle" page for those who need a place to stay on Sat night. Hope these are of use to those involved. Good luck everybody! |
| Kentucky Cycle Wednesday, Mar 12th |
Apologies to Cathal Beale and those who are doing the charity cycle in Kentucky. I had mistaken the distance they will cycle for 80 km instead of 80 m. I have now changed this on the Kentucky Cycle page to approx 125km. |
| Beat FM Monday, Mar 10th |
John Morrissey, one of the main organisers of the Cycle for Cystic Fibrosis, did an interview on Beat FM this morning. We would like to thank Beat FM for allowing us to broadcast these events and well done to John. You did a great job! |

| RTE Radio 1 Sunday, Mar 2nd |
Gerry Ryan and Joe Duffy from Radio 1 have said that they will mention the charity cycles on their shows in the next week. Not only are we hoping that this will raise more money for our cause but will also be invaluable advertisment to raise awareness of the poor facilities in Ireland for C.F. sufferers. Radio 1 have also advertised the Irish cycle on their website at www.rte.ie/radio1/liveline/1182265.html. I've also emailed TV3 news to cover the story. We're still waiting on Today FM to support our cause but I've been annoying them - Come on Ray!!!! |

| Riverbank Hotel Charity Night Friday, Feb 22nd |
Congratulations to all those who were involved in organising the charity night in the Riverbank Hotel in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Wexford. It was an honour to witness such a successful event for which over 1500 tickets were sold. The night was seen to be enjoyed by all with an audience ranging from age 16 to 60. The music created an incredible atmosphere with a special credit to the Lawlor family who had everyone on their feet 'til the early hours. The tickets, auction and raffle not to mention the key rings and pins, raised a considerable amount for this charity which is so close to all of our hearts. A special congratulations to Ian and Phil Lawlor without whom this event could not have been possible. It was a night Tracie would have been proud of xxx |
| Wexford Area Partnership Sunday, Jan 20th |
Wexford Area Partnership have been good enough to make 25 t-shirts that say - Tracie Lawlor Trust, Cystic Fibrosis Wexford. They will be used for Bridgetown students to collect money on the 3rd of March on Main Street Wexford, but they may also be useful for those who will be at the stops on the 5th April for the charity cycle when we are collecting money and handing out water and stuff. If anyone is interested in doing this and want one of the t-shirts just email the cycle for cystic fibrosis account and we can organise how to give them out then |
